Meet the Therapist

Meet Doctor Jocelyn!

Jocelyn FernandezJocelyn Vartanian, DPT, OCS completed her Doctor of Physical Therapy education at the University of Southern California in May 2008 and received the distinguished Golden Cane Award for excellence upon graduation.  She received her Bachelors of Science degree with distinction in Kinesiology at San Diego State University in 2004.  She practiced for two years in a Beverly Hills outpatient private PT clinic working with adult and geriatric patients with orthopedic, neurologic, vestibular, and cardiopulmonary conditions, as well as serving as a clinical instructor for graduate physical therapy students.  While living in Pasadena she also worked per diem at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles for children with acute pediatric disorders. Jocelyn has served as an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member for USC in her former DPT program for two years and hopes to continue her teaching within local university and school programs in the future.

Recently Jocelyn moved back to her home town, Fresno, where she began working for Physiomotion in 2010.  She currently works with patients across the lifespan with similar disorders as prior; however, Jocelyn also has experience and specialty in temperomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, overhead athlete overuse disorders, and pathologies of the shoulder, hand/wrist, hip and ankle/foot. Jocelyn is a member of the California Physical Therapy Association (CPTA) and American Physical Therapy Association’s (APTA) Orthopedic and Sports sub-sections.  She is a strong supporter and advocate for the profession’s long term goal of Vision 2020, which can be found on the APTA website http://www.apta.org:

By 2020, physical therapy will be provided by physical therapists who are doctors of physical therapy, recognized by consumers and other health care professionals as the practitioners of choice to whom consumers have direct access for the diagnosis of, interventions for, and prevention of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities related to movement, function, and health.
